Knitted elephant – Insofu

Elephants live wild in nature in Zambia. Our cuddly African plush toy is called Insofu which is the word for elephant in Bemba which is one of many tribal languages spoken in Zambia.

Many African cultures revere the African Elephant as a symbol of strength and power. The elephant is praised for its strength, dignity and wisdom. It is also thought to bring happiness. The latter, in any case, fits well with our Insofu who is an happy friend for all children.

Insofu is made from ethically produced cotton yarn. The toy is designed in Sweden and knitted by hand by women in Zambia. Your purchase will provide a much-needed income for the woman who has made it.

No 2 toys the same

We always strive to be as true to the original design as possible. With that said, you can not find two Yawama toys precisely the same. It is part of the charm of buying handmade. Some animals are longer, shorter, rounder or slimmer than the toy you saw in the picture. However, we promise that every toy has its charm and the same high quality. Yawama animals are as unique as the women who produce them.

Facts about our toys
